In the 1978 documentary “World In Action: The Hunt For Dr. Mengele”, Margaret Friedman-Englander claimed that Mengele sterilized her daughter Vera Englander, before selecting her to die in a gas chamber two days before liberation of Auschwitz (see video at 10:04).

However, in 1975 Englander told the press that she and her daughter were transferred to Bergen-Belsen, where her daughter died of typhus:

Yet another prominent Mengele accuser has been exposed as a total fraud.
And contrary to Englander’s ridiculous story, Mengele did not flee Auschwitz “two days” prior to liberation after ‘gassings’ took place. Mengele left on the 17th of January 1945, a full 10 days prior to Soviet arrival (and according to the ‘mainstream’ Holocaust historiography, the last gassing is alleged to have taken place in November, 1944).
Englander also once appeared on a panel alongside Eva Mozes Kor; the principal Mengele accuser, who fabricated dubious claims of Mengele’s medical experiments in a successful media campaign to extract billions of dollars from pharmaceutical companies.
Note: Englander is also spelled Englaender in some sources, such as in this Department of Justice report.
